Meet Marlis McAllister

Picture of Marlis McAllisterMarlis McAllister graduated from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1986 with Highest Honors, after completing her undergraduate education at Occidental College.

She spent the first several years of her career at Pillsbury Winthrop, one of the premier law firms in the State of California, and Dinkelspiel, Donovan & Reder, another top tier firm in San Francisco. Immediately prior to starting her own practice, she was employed by Richard G. White, Inc., a boutique firm focused on real estate and construction defect litigation. Marlis has worked as an advocate throughout her career, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in myriad commercial disputes.

Marlis has a very broad-based background in the commercial, real estate and construction fields, so she is uniquely positioned to assist many different people involved in a wide variety of disputes. Virtually all of her clients are individuals and small to medium-sized businesses for whom litigation is not an everyday occurrence. She works hard to make the experience smooth and efficient and seeks results that are practical and tailored to the individual client.

Community Involvement

In addition to building her career and spending time with her family, Marlis has spent countless hours giving back to her community.

When her son was young, Marlis worked with several other parents at his elementary school to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to modify the street adjacent to the school yard and reduce vehicle speed, thereby improving the safety of the children on their way to and from school. Marlis also volunteered for many years with her son's Boy Scout troop. Among many other things, she was the Water Safety Coordinator for the troop for a number of years, harkening back to her own experience as a competitive swimmer in high school and college. Marlis is proud to have helped her son earn his Eagle Scout rank.

More recently, Marlis has for many years been an active member of the Los Altos Rotary Club, which is about 175 members strong. She has fulfilled several roles in the club, including service on its Board of Directors, involvement in its Partners for New Generations program and being responsible for the smooth transition of new members into the club.
